Bovine Serum Albumin is a single-chain globular protein of around 66 kDa and one of the most abundant proteins in bovine serum. It binds and transports fatty acids, hormones and metal ions while staying stable and soluble across a wide pH range — exactly why it is so useful at the bench as a blocking agent, stabiliser and carrier.

What is Bovine Serum Albumin?
Because it binds and transports so readily while staying largely inert, BSA stabilises other proteins and blocks surfaces without interfering with most reactions. That makes it a default reagent across immunoassays, cell culture, molecular biology and protein work.

Storage & handling
Store BSA at 2–8 °C in a dry environment, protected from moisture. Once a solution is prepared, dividing it into single-use aliquots and freezing at −20 °C or below helps preserve activity by avoiding repeated freeze–thaw cycles. Always follow the specification and safety data sheet supplied with the batch.
